I was told certain colours don’t suit deeper skin. So I wore them anyway — on my eyes, on my lips, and with pride.
The first doll I held had blonde hair and blue eyes — a beauty standard I didn’t see myself in. Growing up, finding the right shade of foundation felt like a battle, because I was always told I was “supposed to be fair.” That’s when makeup stopped being just makeup — and became a way to reclaim my skin, my beauty, and my voice.
With a background in fashion and years spent shaping content for top Indian beauty brands, I saw firsthand how deeper skin tones are still an afterthought. Products were labeled “whitening” and “brightening,” shade ranges excluded most of us, and brands outright said they weren’t meant for “that segment.” I was disturbed — and then determined.
Today, as a certified makeup artist from MUD Studio Milan, I use every look I create to challenge outdated norms. I craft beauty that includes, celebrates, and empowers — especially for those who’ve rarely seen themselves reflected in it.

I love creating expressive and colourful looks. While makeup has been stigmatised in Indian subcontinent, I took it in the bold spirit and decided to feel beautiful with every look I create.
